Anonymous asked: "Hi, I just wanna say that I love you. Like, not as in 'You're a great friend and I love you'. Like. I love you. I have this huge-ass crush on you and you make me laugh and smile and whenever I see you on my dash it makes my day a bit better and I get this funny feeling in my chest and I don't know what to do with these feelings. So I shall vocalise them behind anonymous because I am a coward. :'D"

long rant but i’m tired of it ok;

Interesting fact about sarcasm: it’s a false or ridiculous statement to reveal the truth or severity of something. Most interestingly, sarcasm says more truth about the people responding to it than the actual subject it’s addressing.

That being said, this is why many people take offense to sarcasm. Sarcastic jokes have various layers of context and if you’re not in tune, basically, you’re not in tune. This makes sarcasm seem like an annoying trick - which, it partially is - but that’s the beauty of words. Words are not always existent to clarify something; words were also invented to have dimensions. That is why   hardcore classic literature is classic and yet a lot of people mistake it for just plain confusing.

Words. Sometimes. Confuse. In Order. To Get. You Thinking.

with that said,

Fandoms and words. Let me just illustrate something:

Person A says: “Loki is a sad woobie.”

Person B says: “Loki is a sad woobie.”

Person C says: “Loki is a sad woobie.”

Tell me, out of all three, which person’s opinion is valid. I’ll give u ten seconds.

No? Ok. Let’s talk about something here:

Words are complicated motherfuckers.

Person A sincerely believes Loki is a guiltless slave to mistreatment.

Person B believes Loki had a harsh past but is still evil.

Person C was making a sarcastic joke.

oMG????? how did u kno?1?

Plot twist: I didn’t. I can’t tell the fucking difference between all three.

But guess what, because all three people said the same words, everyone who hates Loki apologists are going to go on anonymous and rant out about how they’re wrong and stupid.

Because apparently, the best defensive method is to lash out on someone before fully thinking about the situation.

Because apparently, some people are so concerned with defending a character that they completely missed the joke.

Because maybe, that joke was agreeing with you, but instead, you jumped the gun and decided to make an entire post exclaiming how the fandom sucks and everyone is wrong and stupid and should listen to you. See, that would be a very unnecessary move. And the worst part: it just makes you look like the stupid one. Because not only did you miss the joke, but you openly declared war on somebody that meant you no harm.

So, achievement, my friend.

You just verified the reason why sarcasm is so important to our language.
